The Mercer Island Bicentennial Committee published the first history book in 1977, Mercer Island - the first 100 years (out of print), the profits were given to the Mercer Island Historical Society. These funds were used to publish an updated edition, called Mercer Island Heritage, published in 1989 which is also out of print. A new book is currently being developed which will be published in 2011.

The new book will be available from Island Books on Mercer Island and other sources.

All proceeds from the Mercer Island Heritage book go to the Mercer Island Historical Society to further their mission in collecting, preserving, researching and recording the history of Mercer Island.
